Me Made May Update

Wow! Me Made May is so close to the end!

Day 19 I wore my Fall Fatigue jacket. This had become a staple piece in my wardrobe.

While out with husband on Day 20 I wore my Fall Floral blouse. I took that chevron fabric for "a walk" around the store and then put it back....I'm not missing it. The sign of a good decision.

Ahhh....Day 21 and the beautiful weather we had that day! I wore a not yet blogged Newlook 6122 maxi dress that I made for our trip south in March. I promise to post about it soon!

I couldn't believe that we caught the sunshine for these pictures! It had been a downpour just moments before and after. Day 22 I wore an old friend...Simplicity 2444.

Day 23....no picture that day. I wore these shorts that I think will given away. They have some serious wedgieness business going on!

Photo bombed by kitty! I'm a dog person but I think this cat knows that and always comes to me...
he lives up to his name...Rascal.
Since I missed Fridays polka dot theme, I thought I would double up on them in my Polka Dot Peplum and a RTW cardigan on Day 24.

Day 25....brrrrr. I brought out my Burda Style 7447 pants. Why don't I wear these? I need to make more of these and maybe in shorts length. Of course I also wore my Spring Fever Moto jacket. I can't stop wearing this one.

May is going by quickly and I am learning that I really do like my self made garments but I also have some areas that are lacking...tops and pants. If only I can remember this when planning a project or when I am at the fabric store being sucked in by gorgeous dress worthy prints!

When at the fabric store, what fabrics do you immediately gravitate to?

The End...of May

Me Made May 2013 has come to an end. I'm not sure how to get dressed anymore. I'm still reaching for my me mades, forgetting that I can wear my RTW clothes now. Strange as it was to start the month wearing self made clothes daily...now the opposite holds true. Not wearing them now feels strange.

My experience this month was rewarding, fun, inspiring, challenging and uplifting. I met so many other fabulous women who share my same passion for sewing. In my daily life, I don't think I know anyone who sews much at all, let alone their own clothing, making this challenge so meaningful to me. It was heartwarming to witness and be part and party to women of all ages encouraging each other!

I woke up everyday thinking about these lovely ladies, looking forward to seeing what they had made and would be wearing that day. I would steal time here and there during my day to log on to the Flickr group to swoon over all the lovely creations, leaving comments and then logging off wishing I had more time view everyone's photo. There was never enough time.

I succeeded in my personal challenge with only a couple of repeats and still have self made garments that didn't get worn...Another part of the challenge for myself personally was to blog EVERY DAY for the month as well. Yikes!! I'm pleased to say, I did it! The blog may have been a bit overwhelmed by the challenge content but for me personally it was a good way to establish some more consistency in blogging and gain some much needed confidence as well.

I am so grateful for the experience, to Zoe, the mastermind behind the challenge and to the women who encouraged me and inspired me everyday! You ladies are the best!

The following outfits are my favorites of the month:

It's not hard to tell that I love color!

Peplums, Fancy Pants and Meatballs

I think these pants are just the best pants I have ever owned. Period. No, I didn't make them otherwise I would have a pair in every crazy print I could find. I can't make pants...yet. (I'm an optimist) Remember my last attempt, I know I'd rather not. Now that I have expressed my undying love for these pants...I'll move on to the top I made just so I could wear these pants on this blog. Showing off my fancy pants... Yup.

I used  Newlook 6196. I made view A with the cap sleeves. The pattern was pretty straight forward and fit well enough. Although, I find the waistband a little to high, which is not unusual for me but I almost always forget to check. I got excited to start this top and rushed ahead without thinking. Oops. Sometimes I'm a slow learner.

Top:self-made Fancy Pants:Joe Fresh Shoes:Payless Purse:Winners Necklace:a mystery

As a side note, I should never be allowed to wear white, I dropped a meatball on the front of my pretty new top. Luckily you can't see the greasy spot (ok so maybe you can, so what). I always blamed my kids for my inability to wear and maintain white clothing but maybe, just maybe, it's me that's the slob after all. Sorry kids.
