Fall Floral

I have always been drawn to floral prints and I was immediately smitten when I saw this one. Now that my stash busting challenge is officially over...I skipped out the door with one meter of this precious print, knowing exactly what I would make.
I have had McCalls 5661 in my pattern stash for quite some time now and haven't made anything from it until this top. I bought it without realizing that the back was a button back which then made me unsure of it...but not any more!!! I love the button back, especially after Heather gave me a crash course on how to button that sucker up by myself!
Go ahead ask her her secret... I did. :) Very helpful that one.

My Review:

Pattern: McCalls 5661

Fabric used: Rayon

Instructions:The instructions were straight forward and easy. I especially love how the facing is attached. It fully encloses this little sleeve perfectly! I tried to take pictures of it but the lighting wouldn't give me good pictures...sad face.

Changes I made: I did have to take in the waist of this one a good 5/8 inch on each side.

Repeat worthy? Definitely! The little sleeves on this one are perfect for summer and fit so nicely under a cardigan or blazer for the rest of the year.

I Heart Pretty Dresses

It's no secret that I love dresses. What could be easier than pulling on a dress? One garment to pull on and BAM! you're done. Plus, I'm a girl...I get to wear dresses. I have one life, I'm wearing pretty dresses whenever I can.

For this dress I used Simplicity 2724. This pattern has many options I would like to try and I love a pattern that allows me to play "fashion plate". Different options for bodices, sleeves and skirts and they all fit together.  Here's my review.

My Review:

Pattern: Simplicity 2724

Fabric used: Linen. The floral pattern makes the fabric more "friendly" because it masks the wrinkles.

Instructions: I didn't have any trouble with the instructions.

If I could change anything: I would only add pockets. This dress has a side zipper but I could at least put one pocket in on the other side.

Repeat worthy? For certain!! This pattern has many options that I would love to try... more projects for my ever growing list.

MMM Day 28 So Close

May 28th...so close to the end. Wow. I have loved doing this challenged, however gettting my picture everyday has been a different experience. Interesting. On to my outfit...Simplicity 2444, again. I have posted this dress before here. This one is made of rayon twill and is so floaty. I think it may be one of my favorite fabrics for fit and flare dresses.

MMM Day !6

I really enjoy sewing a pattern for the second or even third time...I have worked the kinks out and am able to relax and just sew. I made this peplum in a white polka dot before (here and here). It's from Newlook 6196, view B. I made it without sleeves this time because I wanted it for summer and it is easy to line a sleeveless top like this. This is a light cotton which needed to be lined to give it body and to be less see through. No cami needed!

I love the floral of this print... not sure what kind of flower it is though.

Here I am doing an inspection of my jeans...no spots yet but white jeans are just calling out for a coffee spill!!

MMM Day 15 Wearable Muslin

I hate to say it but...this dress is not a favorite of mine. I love the fit and style but not my fabric choice. Oh well. I would like to make it again though, so maybe I could call it my "kinda" "sometimes" wearable muslin. I blogged about it before here.
