Sounds like the title of a children's book, doesn't it? I am probably the very last sewing blogger to make this pattern.... I don't know what took me so long. I'll be honest...as I was making this pattern I thought that it was way too much work for a t-shirt. Once I tried it on for the first time, I realized that it isn't just a regular t-shirt, it's a well made and designed top. With a couple of tweaks it will become a TNT pattern that will reside on the top of my pattern stash.
My Review:
Pattern: Sewaholic Renfrew
Fabric used: A cotton knit.
Instructions: The instructions were the best! Very clear and all notches matched up perfectly. I am always grateful for matching notches!
Changes I made: I didn't make any changes to my first attempt. The only changes I would make for next time would be to lengthen the bodice by an inch and perhaps grade it in one size at the waist.
Repeat worthy? Yes! You better believe it! I have seen too many great versions of this not to. I have a lovely sweater knit that would be great for the cowl neck version.

Margo, you make a Renfrew look like a Dior top. I love that pattern too, and I´m waiting for the good weather to make the short sleeve version. Just like yours!
ReplyDeleteAwww thanks Merche! I jumped ahead and made the short sleeve even though there are still traces of snow on the ground...(you can see it in the last picture.) I am anxious for warm weather!
DeleteOoooh, this looks so very nice!!! The neckline especially! The striped fabric adds so much to the simple design. I've not yet jumped on the Indie pattern train. As much as I'd like to try all of the lines, I haven't been able to fit a pattern into my sewing budget. I hear nothing but rave reviews though.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue! This is my first Indie pattern and I did find the price tag a bit more than I usually pay. I do think that it was worth it though!! I have many a pattern that though I may only have paid a dollar for...I haven't yet made them up yet and that is still a waste. At least with this one, I will want to make it up enough to justify it's purchase. I think I see many more of these in my future! :)

DeleteThis is lovely! I really like the arm & hem bands you've used, is that part of the pattern? I don't have this pattern either but maybe it's worth it if it looks as good as this!

DeleteWelcome to Renfrew Nation! Your 1st version turned out great. After a couple more you'll be able to whip them out without directions. It's turned into my go to pattern when I have a limited amount of sewing time but want a finished item. Plus it works with a wide range of knits!
