"Yes, Kate, you can borrow my outfit.... "

It has been a long time since I have shared some thrifting scores with you! I call this my Kate Middleton Suit. I found this gem at my usual thrift store and consider it my best thrift haul to date! I love this matching dress and coat ensemble. The color and cut are perfect...like it was made just for me....or Kate.

The bound button holes on this set are lovely only to be outdone by those gorgeous buttons. I am always careful not to lose the buttons because they could never be replaced!

Another lovely detail that secures my eternal love for this dress is that it has inseam pockets. Really could this ensemble be any more perfect?

I'm pretty fearless when it comes to wearing vintage fashion...the only time I hesitate is when a piece is delicate. This piece is easy to wear...I feel that the style is classic enough to be current, especially when we see Kate Middleton wearing similar outfits and it's construction is sturdy.

I know that some of you out there love vintage fashion as do I but do you feel like you can actually wear it in real life? If you don't, is it due to the delicate nature of the garment or its style?

My Thrift Style

Isn't this dress the best color!? With the temperatures still humid and summer like, I am wearing my summer dresses right to the end of it and probably into the fall by just adding a cardigan or jacket.
I hate to see the end of summer.
Don't get me wrong... I love fall and I love the clothes that go with it...tweeds, cozy knits, jeans and boots...but who wants to be sweating like a pig, all for fashions sake? Not this chick. I will have all winter long to wear my boots and beautiful coats and scarves but for now, I will enjoy bare legs and summery dresses.

I can't quite remember when I thrifted this JCrew dress but it was probably last winter some time. That's the key to thrifting...buy out of season. Shorts in the winter and heavy sweaters in the middle of the sweltering summer.  Always shop for the next season.
I love everything about this dress, the color, the linen fabric, and the style. The shoes are Rouge which I have never heard of but the snakeskin patttern on them is great because they go with everything! I have worn them before here. So there you have it...another full outfit thrifted for under $10! THAT...my friends is a great feeling!

My Thrift Style and..... a GIVEAWAY!! (CLOSED)

I am head to toe thrifted today... dress, cardi and shoes! I love that.
This little dress has been a star in my outfit rotation all spring and summer and now I'm wearing it into the fall as well. For the fall and winter, as the temperature drops, I will add tights and my leather jacket. There is no tag on this dress telling me who made it or what fabric it is. That happens from time to time with thrifted clothing, the previous owner removes itchy tags... which is fine by me.
My cardigan is JCrew. This cardigan is simple and goes with everything!
My shoes, from Old Navy were a gift from my favorite sister... and she thrifted them!  Perfect.
This may be a pretty standard but cute outfit, however with a price tag of under ten dollars...for everything...it just got a whole lot cuter.

To celebrate finishing my stash busting challenge, I wanted to share my stash with you! So now for my very first giveaway!! Wahoo!
As I was digging through my stash, I came across this piece of fabric that you might remember from the MMM challenge. Well, I still have a 2meter piece that I would love to give to one of my readers!

So if you would like to be put into the draw for this fabric, it's easy.... just leave a comment, with your name, below. Remember that anonymous is not your name...
One entry per person please because I am doing this draw the old fashioned way... you know...your names in a hat thing....no worries... I'll pick a nice hat.

Anywhoo... check back on Wednesday, September 11 to congratulate the winner!
Good luck!

UPDATE: This draw is open internationally and I failed to make that clear...opps sorry. Anyone is welcome to enter!

My Thrift Style

I have been thrift shopping for as long as I can remember...waaaaaaay before it became cool. My first thrifting memories are of  my mom taking me to our favorite thrift store where I would spend all my time rooting through the baby clothes. I loved babies and their itty bitty clothes. So I bought clothes for my dolls. I remember loving it.
I still love to thrift shop. I've pretty much outfitted our family in secondhand finds for twenty years now. My husband was not a fan at first but after he saw the great things I found and for soooo cheap...I converted him!
I thought I would share some of my favorite finds in a series that I may do weekly called My Thrift Haul, in hopes that maybe I can convince you to give it a try.

Handsome and I just celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary and I choose to wear this vintage  black lace dress out for dinner.
I showed this dress to a lady who collects vintage clothes and she told me that it was a late 1940's dress. It has a metal side zip ( that I have already pinched myself with) and a velvet bow detail. The tag inside says that it was made in Boston.

I love that the lace overlay is so on trend right now.

This dress is a new favorite piece in my wardrobe that I will wear for many special events. I wonder who may have worn this before me and what special events she went to.
